Weather in Grenada during school holidays

February Half Term

February half term falls in the middle of the Caribbean dry season. During these months, you can expect archetypal Caribbean weather, with a high average temperature of 27°C, eight hours of glorious sunshine every day and a relaxing trade wind breeze that alleviates the humidity. If you’re looking to get away from the cold embrace of the northern hemisphere, then a holiday to Grenada in February is what you’re looking for.

Easter

The weather during the Easter holidays is very similar to the weather during the February half term; warm, dry and gloriously sunny. Easter is a very popular time to travel to the Caribbean as holidaying families seek perfect weather conditions.

May Half Term

This is, on average, the hottest month of the year in Grenada, with temperatures regularly floating above 30°C. It is also one of the driest, with average levels of rainfall lower than in other months.

Summer

The summer holiday months see high average temperatures of over 30°C and highs of 33°C. That said, these months also have the highest levels of rainfall, with showers breaking out sporadically throughout the day. Humidity levels are higher than in other months.

October Half Term

October has a high average temperature of 27.5°C, and lower rainfall as the wet season comes to an end. Eight hours of sunshine every day.

Christmas & New Year

Arguably the best time to visit Grenada in terms of weather. During the winter months of December and January, Grenada has high average temperatures hovering around 27°C, low levels of rainfall and humidity and eight hours of glorious Caribbean sunshine every day.

Best destinations for Half Term & school holidays in Grenada

Grenada has a fantastic range of destinations for you and your family to experience on your holiday away. The highlight of any trip to Grenada must be a visit to Grand Anse beach, which Condé Nast rates as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. This sweeping expanse of white sand juxtaposes with the mesmerising blues of the Caribbean Sea and is conveniently located near many of Grenada’s best resorts and hotels. While the kids can take part in activities such as snorkelling, reef-running and watersports, you can sit back on one of the many sun loungers and enjoy a rum punch from one of the ubiquitous Grenadian stalls and beach bars found on Grand Anse. However, Grand Anse can get busy, so if you’re looking to escape the crowds, we suggest checking out Morne Rouge and Magazine beach which are both stunningly beautiful but are usually less crowded.

If you’re a family of foodies, Grenada has great options on both local and international cuisine. We recommend visiting St George’s, Grenada’s charming, colonial capital, and wandering through its cobbled streets and alleyways before enjoying a meal at BB’s Crabshack. With a fantastic view of the harbour and a welcoming atmosphere, the eponymous BB cooks up creole and international specialities using Grenada’s fresh, local produce. The sorista king prawn with lobster sauce is particularly brilliant and they have great choices on kid’s meals.

Best hotels for Half Term & school holidays in Grenada

If you’re travelling as a family this school holiday, it’s sensible to find hotels and resorts that have all-inclusive offers and options to keep both kids and adults happy. Featuring 64 suites, breezy beachfront terraces overlooking white sand, brilliant activities for adults and kids alike, and a world-class onsite restaurant, Spice Island Beach Resort is a great choice if you’re looking for a getaway to Grenada on an upcoming school holiday. The charming French-Creole décor, location and outstanding customer service will ensure that your stay in Grenada, the ‘Spice Island’ itself, will be one to remember.

In a similar vein of quality is the Royalton Grenada. This stunning resort is nestled between two beautiful stretches of Caribbean sand. It is also an ideal option for families, as there are daily activities for children which range from snorkelling excursions to a supervised kid’s club. While the younger guests are occupied, you can stroll in between Royalton’s dunes to the beach bar and soak up the views of Tamarind Bay while you enjoy all-inclusive luxury.

Finally, we recommend Mount Cinnamon Resort, a boutique beach resort nestled in Grenada’s verdant hillside above the iconic Morne Rouge beach. If you’re looking to find a resort that is tranquil and away from the crowds, but still offers high-quality accommodation, food and drink, then Mount Cinnamon is the ideal resort for you. Spanning over 10 acres of unspoilt Grenadian paradise, Mount Cinnamon offers an intoxicating ‘eco-luxe’, with its 37 luxury suites and villas offering air-conditioned rooms, stacked minibars and unbelievable views of the Caribbean.
