Festivals and events in Grenada in October

Grenada is known for being a paradise above and below the waves but the more adventurous should explore the Pure Grenada Dive Festival. This is typically at the beginning of the month, occasionally starting in late September, and features beginner sessions, reef diving, wreck diving and a lionfish catching tournament (don’t worry- they're an invasive species!). Thanksgiving is celebrated on October 25th (the date of the US invasion in 1983) and this is observed as a National Holiday so expect business to be closed if you visit during this time.

Top places to visit in Grenada in October

If you want to slip beneath the seas and take a test dive, the Grand Anse has a 5* scuba school that’s actually found within Cobaya Beach Resort – a perfect place to make your first foray under the waves. It’s not all serious diving though here's snorkelling and SUP rental too - and it all helps support local conservation efforts by the school's owner, a marine biologist. For the more adventurous Grenada does have a huge 180m long passenger ship, the Bianca C, accessible for wreck divers and the world's first underwater sculpture park but remember the golden rule- look but don’t touch.
