I'll start this review by admitting that I have high standards. My last two holidays abroad have been to Ikos Aria and Dassia, two ultra all inclusive, world renounded resorts, so to compare them with Rixos is perhaps unfair given we had 10 nights for the price of 7 at Ikos. We chose this hotel given everything it had on offer for our 3-year-old, and we were not disappointed by the kids' club and entertainment. The good Upon checkin, we were upgraded to a deluxe room instead of the standard room which we had booked, which was a good start. No sit down welcome or drinks though, but arguably it was 3am! We spent a day at Land of Legends, which we enjoyed. A long coach trip and hugely expensive as others have said, but we went on a Monday out of school holidays and there were no queues so we got lucky and managed to enjoy the theme park and water park for last hour. The grounds are lovely, well kept, and have lots of different areas. The food choice in the buffet was vast The bad We did the TUI coach transfer, which was fine, just long, stopping at no less than five hotels both ways, so 2 hours. Extras There were so many hidden extras that could be easy to get caught out by. Expensive wine menus were thrust at you in restaurants with 50euro plus bottles of wine on offer and no mention of the free stuff. Room service is available, but again extra, as are two al la carte restaurants, which we didn't bother with. There are additional chargeable options on the menus of the restaurants and when making a reservation at the à la carte restaurant, a cover charge will be applied if you wish to dine at the same restaurant a second time (this applies to free restaurants which I think is unfair) you are only allowed two visits to the a la carte restaurants in a week which is disappointing and not clear when you book. However, we managed to book into all four during our 10-night stay via the app for free, a feat which even concierge seemed clueless about. Booking was no issue, though, if you were hot on the app when it 'opened' at 9 am. Whilst the food was good, what bothered me most about the restaurants was that none had any menus. Everything was on a QR code, which got tedious, so forget leaving your phone behind an evening. We were also surprised that People's restaurant does not have a kids menu at night, despite 80% of tables having kids sitting at them. The earliest time restaurants open is 7 pm, and the kids' disco starts at 8.15pm, so there a bit of a rush every night, and if you want to sit outside at the buffet, you need to be there by 7.10pm The food overall was generally very good with lots of choice. Drinks service was good in the evenings, but outside of that, it was very poor. I got my own coffees and orange juice and often regularly had to ask for drinks to the table. The drinks at Lotus bar we found the best. At Highlights bar, they were very poor and serviced to small plastic glasses, including a dire strawberry daiquiri and espresso martini, which was actually okay, although the barman had to Google how to make it. I stuck with bottled beers thereafter. The indoor pool was closed our entire stay 'for maintenance' but saw no such work going on. Rixy 'Farm' consisted of a handful of huts with a few chickens, rabbits, birds, and goats. The beach was a disappointment. Grainy sand and lots of stones. The water was beautiful. However, it was all ruined by rows and rows of sunbeds, all in blocks on decking with roofs above that you couldn't take down. So no sun, and spoilt the view to the beach as you couldn't see the shoreline. If you're still with me, this isn't a bad hotel. It's very impressive in parts. It just depends on your past experiences and expectations. I wouldn't return as the service lets it down, but I can see why many people come here and enjoy their holiday.
