Well where do I start. It was fabulous. Pics on website are just like it is in real life. We got there and checked in just after 2pm, and was advised we were to be upgraded to one of the bungalows which was fine by us. The bungalow we got was 217 and it was a ground level one so 2 levels or so up from beach, and one min walk to the pool side thalasi restuarant and bar. The bungalow has a huge 6ft bed, and is quite a firm mattress with a topper on, A huge walk in shower room with a toilet. Be warned no toilets in greece are allowed to have toilet paper flushed down, there are pedal bins provided every where for this. You dont want the bill for blocking toilet s up while away thats for sure. There was a wash area with two sinks and mirrors behind the bed. see pics you'll understand the layout. Curtains are black out which is great and s sliding mesh screenand also sliding net curtain to use when doors are openfor privacy, be careful not to walk into the mesh screen like I did. They have sliding doors onto a small patio with a table and 2 chairs and a small pull out drying rail on the wall of patio. Landscaping around the hotel is well looked after. Lemon trees along the walk way to buffet restaurant. There is a coffee expresso machine.. and small kettle, 2 bottles of still water is supplied daily when the room is cleaned and beds made and towels changed. I didnt come across an iron or board in the room so guessing if you want anything ironed youll need to pay for that service. There is also about 6 friendly cats that frequent the grounds and sometimes they wander into the restuarant areas under the tables etc. The staff do try to stop them coming in but theyre sneaky. They also will sit below the windows along the edge of restaurant hoping that you will give them food. I am sure this is frowned upon but some people will take food out for them. There is food and water left out daily by staff at hotel for them. Although they dont look well kept and probably never groomed thats for sure. We mostly used the thalasi pool area to sunbathe had sun loungers and could just pop up to bar for drinks which were served in paper cups as on poolside. Soft drinks are available too. The draught beer is so refreshing and light. The sun loungers are quite comfy with thick mattresses on. But put the green towels on them first. Esp if youve been in pool and are wet, thus if you leave it means less to dry out for other people to use later. The pool is quite cold initially but you get used to it. We didnt try the other pool at cucina end of hotel. There is also a swim up bar pool higher up in the hotel grounds but we didnt climb up there. There is a small shop just up the bank from the hotel, which stocks most things but all greek or imported stuff nothing that we are used to in the uk, limited choices. some gift items were available too. I went to get some pots of milk.. but all they had was cartons of long life, which is what they use in hotel I found out afterwards. I bought a net bag with pots in but it turned out to be cream for the coffee not milk. Well worth having all inclusive. There are 3 main food restaurants to eat at. The Thalasi greek one is amazing and much quieter to eat. You get 2 al a carte tables to use in the week. So you can book 1 at Thalasi greek one and the other at Cucina which is mediterean food. Book 2 days ahead if you want to do these. As they are limited to numbers and book up fast. Each night the buffet restaurant has slightly diff variety of foods on, chinese one night, mexican another, fish another etc. But along side there is always plenty of other food to choose, salads, breads, cheeses, hot chips and other bits. pasta and sauces. Be aware if you have food allergies as there are no lists of ingredients to say whats in the foods. I had a salad mix which turned out to have walnuts in ... I actually thought it was ham pieces to my surprise it was not ham, luckily I had no reaction, but to allergy sufferers be very careful. None of the staff ask about if you have allergies but I did tell the reception staff when we booked and she said she would pass it on, personally I dont think they did, as it was not followed up when we arrived for our table. Some of the kitchen staff dont speak english and dont understand or even want to answer you. But its a diff culture over there. The table staff are very helpful when you ask and sometimes language barrier can be a hinderence, but get there in the end. If you order a hot drink at bar ie hot chocolate or latte etc dont expect it to be hot like a costa coffee. haha ... its luke warm and they dont understand when you say I want it hot.. So gave up asking for them. There are sachets of tea bags mostly fruit flavoured, there is also a one that says everyday tea.. which to us is like a normal cup of tea. You have to ask for pot of milk to go with it too. The free wine I personally did not enjoy as Im not a wine drinker. But husband liked the red strangely he isnt a wine drinker as such either. The walk down to the beach is down some steps. Once on the beach you ll need good rubber soled footwear most people get beach shoes which are closed in as this stops the stones and rough sand getting into your feet. Its painful otherwise to walk bare feet. However the sea was amazing to swim in once adjusted to it. Beware of your balance as there is alot of large pebbles on entering and it drops off about 2 ft drop once off sandy bit. There are sun loungers which are grey colour all along the front, no issues getting one of them each day if you wish. But pool side areas are a little more busy, There were quite a few sun loungers with towels on already. People are advised not to put towels on before 9am. You can get clean towels each day with a card reception give you on check in. Make sure you get your card back at the end of the session that day otherwise the hotel will charge you if you keep the towel when you check out. The main restaurant in the buffet self serve, find a table as you go in, the staff will then sort your drinks out that you ask for. tea coffee beer etc .or 1 glass of red or white wine. The bar serves cocktails and theyre in small tall thin glasses so not your average size like uk. but they use the cheaper spirits to make them. Some were slightly less tasty but everyone makes them differently. I found the draught beer the best option overall. There is a local bus service No 1 or No 5 that stops directly outside the hotel, it will take you into the centre of Kos town for just under 2 euros each way from hotel. The bus can get busy and sometimes will need to stand. The driver seems to just pack people on and on and on. Oddly aswell you cannot see out the bus side windows. So be aware and make sure the drivers know where you want to be off. Sometimes the drivers will shout out where hes stopping, but if your at the back of bus your not likely to hear the driver shout. So just be aware as you could easily miss your stop like we nearly did. We spent half a day down in town of Kos. there is lots of small shops. quite a few repeated so selling nearly same items. ie bags. clothing. but still worth looking around. They will try on with the price so be careful if your not savvy with money like how many euros they will charge you . Food is not cheap at all in Kos. So be aware of how much you are able to spend daily. On our return from Kos airport we were charged 33 euros for a whopper meal and a chicken royale meal with 2 drinks but drinks were 500ml pots... and to be fair the food was the best taking burger king meal ive ever eaten.. it was so hot it was literally cooked there and then not like the stuff that stands for ages in uk. Any questions feel free to message me.. I will do best to reply. if thats possible on here.
