As the biggest event in Trinidad, and the most popular in the Caribbean, the streets of Port of Spain come alive with parades, costumes, soca and calypso. With over 300,000 people dancing to the beat of Trinidad, the event takes place on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday every year.

Over in Tobago, things are a lot more traditional; Trinidad holds the name for being home to the most energetic, euphoric and eccentric carnival. Tobagonians like things laid-back, theatrical and meaningful. But don’t be fooled, the days remain jam-packed with events, fetes and parties, just on a more intimate scale down the streets of Scarborough.

Alternatively, visit the Englishman’s Bay in Tobago. Well-known for all the right reasons, this valentine's spot, nominated the most romantic place across both islands, is perfect for the couple seeking more privacy. Make the most of the clear and warm waters with some snorkelling and diving to explore the gorgeous reefs.
