St Anton's centre has been pedestrianised for the past twenty or so years since a by-pass was completed, drastically easing previous serious traffic congestion problems. The centre is therefore a very pleasant place with bars, hotels and window shopping opportunities. The selection of shops is, however, not vast. There is a Sports Shop and the Mansarte Gallery holds permanent exhibitions of work by local and international artists. The local artists hold a get-together at 7pm on Tuesday evenings. Also on your list should be the Murr deli, established in 1904, where Arlberg specialities are on sale.
There are half a dozen more skiwear and hardwear equipment retailers, the Pete Alpine Equipment store has all the famous names from Oakley to Think Pink. Historic posters from St Anton may be purchased at the tourist office, along with DVDs or video tapes.
