How to find the best last minute ski holidays:
1. The early bird catches the worm!
Search for last minute ski deals in the morning because all ski travel websites update overnight. If you see a late ski deal in the morning and phone in to book straight away, it will likely still be available. Those who search or call to book later in the day often find the best deals have been spotted and sold.
2. Like the scouts, "be prepared"
To secure a last minute ski holiday you need to book it there and then, so make sure you have the following for your group:
- first and last names (spellings same as passport)
- dates of birth (again, same as passport)
- debit cards incur no bank fees, credit cards add 2.5%
If you spot a great last minute ski deal and are ready to press "go", when the next
guy calling has to ring around and get all the booking info and money, guess who will get that great deal?
3. Play to your strengths
If you're a group of 4+ then self catering apartments are the way to get the spectacularly low basic holiday cost. If you are a pair/couple look for hotels and chalets which will save you money by being catered (i.e. don't think that those crazy low self catering apartment prices can be had for groups of less than 4 - self catering apartments are usualy for 4 or 6 or 8 etc so putting 2 people in there will make them a lot more expensive per person.
4. Seize the day
We're all skint, it's a recession, but trying to wait for that last twenty quid off an already super cheap last minute ski holiday will usually just mean you lose the deal as it sells out to those who don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If its a great price, you want to ski there, and you can afford it... book it!
