Hotels are the main ski accommodation type in the Swiss alps, and a lot offer leftover rooms for less as the holiday date approaches. Most are rated 3* and above, with iconic properties at the top end of the scale complete with acclaimed spas and restaurants. When it’s not long to go before you depart, a half board or all-inclusive package saves you having to spend time planning or budgeting for meals and costs less than it would buying meals in resort. However, if you’re keen to explore the local gourmet scene (there are some fabulous Michelin and Gault&Milau acclaimed restaurants in the Swiss ski resorts), a B&B deal might be just the ticket.

If you don’t go during the World Economic Forum, the plethora of chalets and hotels in Davos means you can find some of the best last minute ski deals in Switzerland.For Savile Row skiing at Ski Row prices we recommend keeping an eye on prices for the Walliserhof Grand Hotel and Spa in Saas Fee, a place where even the swimming pool is lit by chandelier.
Snowsure Last Minute Ski Trips to Switzerland
The higher you ski, the better the snow – it really is that simple, and Switzerland has some of the highest ski resorts in the Alps. Top of the shop is Zermatt beneath the mighty Matterhorn, with glacier slopes so high they usually have slopes open even throughout the summer. Saas Fee is the second highest Swiss resort and one the best places in Switzerland to find a bargain apartment at the last minute, with many other destinations focussed on more upmarket hotels and catered chalets. As the nation with a reputation for luxurious hotels, chalets and service, Switzerland is probably the best place to find a 5-star late deal. If, like us, your tastes are bigger than your budget, you can find cheap luxury ski holidays by either waiting for a last minute discount or browsing some of the world’s best 4-star and 4.5 star ski accommodations, to shave between 20% and 50% off the brochure price. The bigger ski resorts like Zermatt and Verbier have the most luxury hotels and chalets, so we recommend searching there if you won’t compromise on that 5-star rating. If you really must have a top hotel in a famous Swiss resort and you’re travelling in the peak weeks of Christmas, New Year, February half-term or Easter, we recommend booking earlier.
Switzerland Last Minute Family Ski Holidays
Booking your family ski holiday in Switzerland last minute can be a bit of a gamble - we recommend booking much more in advance if you’re planning to travel during the school holidays - but there are late deals in child-friendly Swiss hotels if you’re flexible on dates and destination. With family friendly hotels in the mid-range budget like the Hotels Schonegg, Perren and Butterfly often having rooms available, and higher up the scale the Hotel Alex and the Mirabeau Hotel and Spa, Zermatt is a great place to book if you’ve left it quite late. If your family wants to ski like the royal family, the Silvretta Park in King Charles’ favourite Klosters often has generous discounts on room rates when booking in the month or two before travel.
