Odd layout but nice chalet

Reviewed 9 Jun 2016

I liked it – it has a bit of a strange layout as far as my experience of chalets and apartments goes – it’s split into two parts with the living area and rooms on one side of the hall, and the rest in another section across the hall.
The only downside with our room was that it’s right next to the kitchen, so when the hosties came in to make breakfast they’d wake you up at 6am. It wasn’t a massive problem (I’d just put my headphones in) but might be for some guests.
The location is really good as it’s so central, so it was just a short walk to the slopes – not very far at all. We had the advantage of being snowboarders so we didn’t have to put up with ski boots. It would probably take 10 minutes if you walked pretty slowly. There’s a little shop (like a Spar) literally at the bottom of the steps which was really handy.

One of the best holidays of the year!

I had a great week here and enjoyed every minute – the staff were lovely, the food was nice! The chalet is close to the lifts and right in the centre so getting around is easy. I might try and book it again next season!

Great chalet!

Reviewed 29 Apr 2015

We all had a really good week away, it’s a great chalet. The food was excellent, nothing too obscure and everyone was happy! They put the menu up in the mornings, so if you didn’t like the sound of anything, you could request something different. Breakfasts were always really good. In terms of storage, our group were split between 3 rooms – one which was a little small and another that was quite big. It wasn’t a problem for us because we could share storage between us. The location was really good as it only took us 2 minutes to get onto the first lift.

An odd layout, but don’t let that put you off. I’d recommend it.

It’s an odd chalet – you’ve got three quarters of the accommodation on one side, then a big public corridor running through the centre, and the lounge, dining room and one bedroom in a separate part of the building. The best way to describe it’s probably like a one bedroom apartment with separate rooms… this didn’t turn out to be a problem at all, it was just a bit strange having to walk through a public thoroughfare to get to the rest of the ‘chalet’.
The food was average: good on a couple of nights, not good at all one night and ok for the rest of the week. Portion sizes were a bit on the small size throughout the week (when you’re on a snowboarding holiday you need to replace the calories you burn on the mountain!). We appreciate that it was a budget holiday though, and this didn’t ruin the week at all. The girls who looked after us in the chalet were lovely and everyone staying there got on really well.
The location is good - in the centre of town (it took about five or ten minutes to get to the slopes).
Overall the Tichot is brilliant value for money if you can get the right price and I’d definitely recommend it.

Very little compromise for such a bargain

Centrally located, you’re practically round the corner from the Val Claret nightlife (literally 50 yards away) and staying in a stylish and enticing chalet. You're staying just two hundred yards off the ski school meeting point, and 250y from the Tufs lift access, so you're right in the thick of the action, making this a perfect choice if the après ski is just as important to you as snowboarding and skiing. Sure, the bars are slightly nearer than the piste, but we're grateful for that at the end of the night, when a short winter walk makes the perfect end to a busy night.
