Family stay in Chalet Pia

Reviewed 14 May 2015

A really good week overall. We had no real expectations before we got there but it’s quite big in terms of the number of people staying there (there are more than 40 bedrooms) and I’d describe it as more of a budget hotel (like a Formula 1 in France or a Travelodge). Although I’d give it a 3/5 because it’s basic and without many home comforts, it was totally fine for what we needed.
I thought the location was good – the chalet is half way between the main lift and the Nassereinbahn ski lift so it was just a five minute walk or so. The chalet didn’t have much by way of ski storage but for a small fee we could leave our equipment at the ski hire shop which worked well for us.
We’re a family and unfortunately the neighbouring rooms we ended up with weren’t interconnecting which meant we had a few logistical shenanigans with the kids.
The staff were very helpful - they did an earlier dinner for the kids staying there and were pretty flexible, we gave them very positive feedback. We pre-booked our lift passes and they made sure we had them as soon as we arrived.
There is a sauna but on the whole the chalet doesn’t really have any facilities in terms of things to do with the kids after the evening meal. The WiFi was a bit sketchy as there was only one router, but that wasn’t a big problem.

Good value for money

Reviewed 30 Apr 2015

The chalet was perfect for what we needed, it was good value for money and had a central position, near the bars and about a 10 minute walk from the lift - if that (though it depends which lift you want to go to). We liked the food, my boyfriend has a nut allergy and they catered to that very well. Our room was absolutely fine, not luxurious but all we needed.

Savile Row skiing, Skid Row price

You get what you pay for! Cheapest central St Anton chalet, Very tired & basic. Refurb' planned summer 2015, so this winter at its' most worn out. Can't normally get a catered chalet in Austria's top resort so cheaply, so book knowing you're getting an awesome holiday, not awesome accommodation.
The suits me perfectly, but I noticed some people complained about standards, conveniently forgetting the incredibly cheap price.

Fantastic staff and food, room a bit on the small side

Reviewed 27 Jun 2014

The staff were fantastic. Our room was smaller than we expected (room 12) – we booked a double but I almost wish we had got a twin because we noticed that these were larger. The rooms were basic but the chalet’s interior was generally nice. The biggest issue was the drying room which leaked badly. The water was coming into the hallway. The staff tried their hardest to keep it under control but it was constant so you can imagine, it was impossible for them. I thought it was quite a safety hazard.
The food was really good. It was varied and very good quality, and they catered well for my daughter who is a veggie.
The location is fantastic, close to the lift which is what we wanted.
We had a great holiday and we can’t wait to go back to St. Anton.

Good value chalet

Reviewed 8 May 2014

We booked the Pia because our BMF group were staying in the same building and we missed out on getting a place on their booking...
We hadn’t realised that the building was actually 2 separate hotels covered by different operators. Everyone else was in the bit that covered the 3 floors above (which looked really nice) and we were in the basement which you access round the back and is a completely separate entity.
Although you’re in the basement, you do have windows and natural light on one side so you're not completely underground.
The part we stayed in sleeps 8 and it was ‘cosy’. For a group of 8 who all knew each other it would have been great, but we found ourselves a bit on top of each other with people we didn’t know.
The dining room is really small and some of the bedroom doors open literally into the dining room table, to the point that you have to make sure the bedroom door is closed if you want to push your chair back – it was quite unpleasant having to eat so close to other people’s rooms.
The good thing is that you have your own cook for just the 8 of you, the food was pretty good and if you wanted something special they would probably put it together for you.
It’s at the budget end of budget holidays - not a luxury chalet by any means - but you do have a sauna. It’s probably priced accordingly as price-wise a week here is fairly cheap (we definitely managed to beat the price of our friends in the upstairs part). The location is very central and you could quite happily walk to the lift in ski boots.
The rooms themselves were dorm-like but ok (I’ve stayed in much smaller rooms before) and the bathrooms were pretty modern and clean.

5 star quality, 3 star standard

Reviewed 28 Jan 2014

Our holiday here was good – we went in the middle of April and there was a lot of snow, not that bad considering it was near the end of the season! The guys in the chalet were alright, they served different food every day – it was sociable eating together with other people in the chalet. Our room was fine and clean. The chalet has a good position close to the centre and near the lifts. We went as a couple and enjoyed it – I’d say the chalet would also be good for a group of a few people. From my experience here I’d say it had 5 star quality and 3 star standard. This was my first time in St Anton and I will be going again!

Near the action both on and off slope!

Wondrously close to the town centre, at less than 300yards, you’ve got easy access to the highly entertaining nightlife afforded to you from this popular resort. Even better, in the morning you’ll have all the piste to choose from, with nursery runs, smaller chairlifts and gondolas heading across the piste all within your grasp, and less than a 10minute walk from all. With this wide choice of activities on your doorstep, you’ll be worn out, making the inclusion of a sauna a wonderful perk, but let us check it’s available for your dates "before you book", in case this is a key part of the holiday for you.
