Established in 1936 the French ski resort Valloire lies at 2600 metres altitude in the Savoie region of the French Alps / Alpes. With the highest lifts and ski slopes above 2500m Valloire ski area is snow sure. Over 400 snow cannons ensure artificial Valloire snow making covers 50km of ski trails, which equates to around 30 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Valloire (France) is Chambery at a distance of 100km or approximately 100 minutes driving time. Valloire ski season runs from December to April.

Developing from a small farming community of the 1930s, Valloire has branched out across the Maurienne Valley, encompassing 17 hamlets, but remaining "very French". It is located at the foot of the famous Galibier Pass, one of the highest in France, culminating at 2645m and at the heart of the Vallee d'or (Golden Valley). Well known for staging international competitions, including ice-sculptures.

Valloire's Fitness Centre has excellent facilities including gymnasium, sunbeds and sauna. The cinema and library and within the cultural centre and theres even a classical music auditorium, Ice rink and indoor bowling. Guided tours of the 17th century church.
Paragliding (parapente) is very popular and flights take off from several points on the mountain. For an unusual guided excursion try snowshoeing up to a mountain restaurant to enjoy a fondue,
In January the resort plays host to the International Ice and Snow Sculpture Contests when the streets are taken over by four metre high snow sculptures in all shapes and sizes. Lively nightlife with wide choice of restaurants, pubs and discos.
