Established in 1970 the French ski resort Risoul lies at 2750 metres altitude in the Hautes - Alpes region of the French Alps / Alpes. With the highest lifts and ski slopes above 2500m Risoul ski area is snow sure. Over 25 snow cannons ensure artificial Risoul snow making covers 35km of ski trails, which equates to around 35 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Risoul (France) is Marseille at a distance of 250km or approximately ? minutes driving time. Risoul ski season runs from December to April.

Very pleasant for a purpose-built centre, Risoul has the largest doorstep skiing area in the Southern Alps, being linked to Vars. Pistes are usually quiet with lift queues a rarity, unlike the sun, which shines 320 days a year.

Off the slopes Risoul's facilities are limited. There's an outdoor ice rink, cinema and a games room. You can also try out snowshoeing or go on a snowmobile excursion. Paragliding is available in neighbouring Vars.
Horse lovers will also enjoy the new activity of ski joring, being towed behind a horse on your skis.
