Igls has six shops including boutiques, souvenir and speciality stores. Tourist type opening hours have not yet corrupted the village, where a three hour lunch period is observed from noon until 3pm on week days, with morning opening from 9am and evening closing at 6pm. On Saturdays the shops close at noon and do not re-open until Monday morning. The choices include a florist, laundry, two banks, a chemist, post office and sports, clothing and grocery outlets.
Serious shoppers will of course head down the mountain at some point in their holiday. As a major city, Innsbruck has every type of shop imaginable, mainly along the Maria-Theresien-Straße. The Rathaugalerien is a good general department store with everything from groceries to clothing. Visitors seeking authentic handwork can visit Tiroler Heimatwerk in Meranerstraße. A daily market in the Markthalle brings farmers with their homemade honey and schnapps, and on Saturdays outside, an array of flea-market stalls.
