There's not a huge choice of activities beyond skiing in the region, although enough to keep you busy in your spare time if you are spending full days on the piste.
Alternatives outdoors include ice climbing, ski mountaineering and snow shoe walks on nature routes in the Valle di Otro and the Parco Alta Valsesia.
Alagna has a sports centre with an ice rink nearby as well as a museum. Gressoney La Trinite offers climbing and there's a museum, swimming pool, sports centre and weekly market in neighbouring Gressoney-St-Jean.
