Picturesque traditional Swiss resort but with an unusually large modern ski area linked to Lenk's. Thoroughly modern outlook includes a dedicated ski school.

SNO-man says

Not so many years ago skiers made up the vast majority of winter holidaymakers visiting the Bernese Oberland but recent surveys have shown that increasing numbers of visitors are now discovering the well prepared hiking paths this region has to offer. The region has 74km (47 miles) of prepared trails for winter walking. Snowshoeing is another alternative and one that enables you to experience nature in ways seldom possible in our densely populated environment. Its best to put yourself in the hands of a local guide, he or she will not only know the safest, most spectacular routes but will also help you strap on your snowshoes and give you some tips that should help you become accustomed to this unusual mode of transport. If you prefer not to walk then there are options of horse-drawn sleigh rides around the village and surroundings. Ice skating and curling are both very popular and if you prefer indoor activities the village has a fitness centre. Swimming pools and saunas are located in several hotels for their guests and may be available to members of the public at other times.
