At just an hour's drive from Geneva, Flaine's known as a 'fly-in, ski-in ski-out' resort. The ease of skiing that families and keen skiers rave about here's no accident – legendary architect Marcel Lajos Breuer designed it to be as ski friendly as possible, and he did a jolly good job. A ski lift or piste is never far away, and the town itself is entirely traffic-free, with cars only allowed to enter to drop off and pick up luggage. Whilst it won't be winning the gong for chocolate box charm, Breuer's work...
With its high altitudes producing outstanding ski conditions throughout the season, Flaine is famed for offering an all-round ski area with plenty of slopes for all abilities. It is the perfect place for some quality skiing or snowboarding. Flaine is a popular place to learn to ski or snowboard and even has free beginners lifts for those who are finding their feet. The schools all have English speaking instructors who can guide you through the basics and have you gliding down the slopes in no time. Once you...
The excellent skiing in the resort is matched by fun après ski, and there's something to suit everyone - from a family night out to an all-night party thanks to a range of places to eat, drink and dance. If you're staying in Flaine Forum, you'll enjoy all the restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. The après is a short bus ride from Flaine Foret which is considered the slightly more residential part of Flaine. You can get a ski lift or shuttle bus into the town for après so you won't be missing out. ...

"Great for price!"

The apartments are quite small but the holiday was ridiculously cheap so they were great for what we paid. Everything was clean and the apartment had all we needed. There were five of us staying in one apartment, two sleeping in the bedroom, two on the lounge double bed and one on a pull out bed, I’d say the apartment would be fine for a group of four but it was quite tight with five of us. We cooked for ourselves for the whole week and the kitchen had everything we needed, there’s a shop down the hill where you can get ingredients. Where we stayed was a five minute walk from the apartments to the lifts and the walk is flat so it would be easy for everyone.

"Prob' best self catering apt ever stayed in!"

The Residence de la Foret are great – probably the best self catering apartment we’ve ever stayed in. We had an apartment for the four of us, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. There were also 2 sofas which could be used as sofa beds so the apartment we stayed in could possibly sleep a group of 8. The living area is combined with an American kitchen (oven, hob, fridge, the works!). There’s also a boot room where you can keep your skis. There’s plenty of room throughout, I’ve stayed in other apartments in Flaine which are quite pokey but we weren’t on top of each other at all here. The location is brilliant, it was about a 2 minute walk and you’re out on the slopes. Self catering is really easy staying here because there’s a little shop in the actual apartment block, which is well stocked (not cheap but that’s what you get in ski resorts!). It’s run by some Dutch people and there’s also a little restaurant where you can get pizzas etc which we had a few times. They do a brilliant fondue hire service where you’re provided with all the material and ingredients to do a fondue in your apartment, which we really enjoyed. There’s also a ski hire place in the building, at the bottom. For any other supermarkets, you have to walk down to the forum. We will definitely stay here again – we’ve just got back from somewhere else and everyone wished they had stayed in Flaine again instead!
