I wouldn’t go back to this hotel. The hotel owner is like a French Basil Fawlty! English people are treated like a hindrance in this place. When we arrived we had to wait at the reception for about 10 minutes without being seen to, and then ‘Pierre’ came to meet us and talked to us like naughty school childr... + more

We found the staff here to be fine, their English wasn’t great but we had no problems. It might have helped that my wife speaks French, I don’t know. We've stayed here twice now and its perfect. English is spoken but it's a French hotel in a French town so learn some French its not that hard and rather arrogant not to do so. "Great for French, for English not so much!"

I wouldn’t go back to this hotel. The hotel owner is like a French Basil Fawlty! English people are treated like a hindrance in this place. When we arrived we had to wait at the reception for about 10 minutes without being seen to, and then ‘Pierre’ came to meet us and talked to us like naughty school children. He told us a long list of things we shouldn’t do. It wasn’t a warm welcome. Then the food on the first night was terrible. It got better throughout the week, but there was a segregation in the restaurant. The French customers got good service, while the English customers were shoved to the back and ignored. The waitresses didn’t speak good English and every night they would talk to us at length in French which was awkward. Otherwise though the staff were friendly, it was just the manager who was the problem. The hotel was clean and the room was a decent size, although I’d say the place is a bit tired. The bar shut at a different time each night and the whole place shut down after about 10:30/11pm. I could imagine a group of young lads would definitely fall out with the owner. There are better places to go for the amount we paid for it, if it had been bargain basement prices then I wouldn’t have minded.

To be fair I can see how the owner might rub some people up the wrong way, but he was fine with us. I think maybe some people were expecting something different to what they got, it’s just a basic and clean hotel. We got a good deal on it, it was good value. We have already talked about staying here again if we come back to Morzine. A few other things: the boot room was not as big and kitted out as it maybe should have been for the number of people staying at the hotel. Also the pool was a bit cold. We thought the food was good. You can walk into town in about 10 minutes. We popped into Morzine in the evenings a few times, it was no problem. To walk back you have to climb up a hill, so it’s more like 15 minutes. The bus to Avoriaz stops out the back of the hotel so we used this quite a bit. It runs regularly.

Food was great it's France and the French cuisine was traditional and very tasty. Morning coffee or chocolate particularly nice. The owners are very helpful if you engage with them and they remembered us as a returning family. Its not a night club but a traditional French pension after a day's skiing it was relaxing and comfortable. If that's not what you want other hotels offer an alternative
