Les Arcs was established in 1968 and is located in one of the largest ski areas in the Alps. The closest airport is Chambery with a transfer time of around 2 and half hours and there are various transport links from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble too.
Present day Les Arcs consists of 4 purpose built villages. The original resort, Arc 1600, was purpose built for doorstep skiing and is directly linked by a funicular from Bourg St Maurice.
