*In certain locations, a twin is commonly accepted as referring to two separate mattresses and duvets contained in one large frame. Most hotels have rooms that will take an extra bed if required. These extra beds may be bunk beds, fold-away beds or sofa beds, but the suitability of these beds may depend on each individual. Where an extra bed is added this may limit the space available. Rooms with extra beds are still bookable for two person occupancy although, in this case, the hotelier may allocate a standard-sized twin bedded room without extra beds. Single rooms do not always match up either in size or facilities to twin bedded rooms, even when a supplement is paid.

Between the Wilder Kaiser Mountains and the Hohe Salve (one of Austria’s highest peaks), Söll is the main resort in the Ski Welt - Austria’s second-largest lift-linked ski area. Getting here is easy - you are no more than an hour away from Innsbruck airport and those travelling by rail can get here in about 15 minutes from Wörgl. Having left behind the reputation gained in the 80s as a ‘lads’ holiday hotspot, Söll is now one of the finest family resorts in Austria. Kindergarten areas, child-care service...
Beginners will find a high standard of learning facilities in the area, with Skischule Söll providing many courses for different age groups. There’s a collection of nursery slopes near the village, and you can catch the gondola up to Hochsöll for access to some short and sweet blues. This is also where you’ll find the Kinderland area – an area custom made for mini skiers with a gentle slope and ski merry-go-round. A word to the wise: the main piste leading back to resort is a red, which sometimes gets ic...
Though this is a quaint Austrian village with fantastic offerings for families, Söll still knows how to have a good time. Before you ski back down at the end of the day, stop at the Gipfelalm on Hohe Salve for a drink – it has a 360° panorama of over 70 high alpine peaks! For a quirky atmosphere head to The Jam Jar, it’s a small basement bar at the entrance to the town. The Jam Jar serves up a great selection of draught beers and puts on regular live music. Anyone in need of some home comfort will love ...

Excellent! The staff were very good, they couldn’t do enough for you. The food was exceptional, it was superb. I enjoyed every meal. It’s not a massive chalet, there aren’t many rooms, so if you aren’t going in a huge group it’s perfect. It’s in a great location, the bus stops about 10 meters from the chalet and takes you directly to the gondola. Otherwise it’s about a 5 minute walk. Thoroughly recommended!

We very much liked it. The chalet is nice and big and has a great atmosphere, we had a lovely holiday. We liked having a good sized bedroom, Austria tend to have more generous sized rooms whereas in France they can get very squashed. It was quite basic but fine. The host was great. We liked the food which was standard chalet fare, duck one night, chicken one night, fish one night… Very generous cakes for afternoon tea and breakfasts were full English or continental. Having the bus stopping just outside (literally 10 yards) was very convenient and the bus takes you to the ski place in 5 minutes. If you walk it took 15 minutes which a lot of us ended up doing, there was only a slight incline and the walk was very pleasant.

The Bichler is a fantastic chalet. The staff were friendly, we had a good sized room and the food was great, 3 course evening meals with an aperitif, afternoon tea and cake and good breakfasts. Because the snow was bad we had to walk to get the bus, but I could imagine from the location that if conditions had been better we’d have been able to get to the slopes quite quickly. We stayed the week before Christmas and it was quite festive with a Christmas tree out in the chalet and the staff were preparing a big meal for the guests coming the next week – shame we didn’t get to enjoy it!
