Up on a plateau at 1750m and surrounded by 2000m+ peaks, La Toussuire’s not the biggest name in French skiing, but it’s spot on if you’re looking for a cheap ski holiday that doesn’t scrimp on terrain. The Front de neige area is beginner territory, with a gaggle of short green and blue runs served by drag lifts. In the blue department, Marmotte is a lovely long, winding descent from Tete de Bellard to La Toussuire that shows off the sheer beauty of the surroundings. If you’d pick dinner and drinks over pitchers and parties any day, the après ski here’s more suited for you – no dancing on table tops or champagne showers here.
