You get a real flavour of Puglia when you stay at Hotel Il Palmento. The food here is one of our favourite things about the hotel. They have a zero-kilometre policy so everything on the plate is locally-sourced – easy to do when you’re in the middle of the Itria Valley surrounded by olive groves. They know the best local suppliers so you every mouthful of food is fresh and tasty. Wash it all down with some local wine and you’ve got a pretty perfect evening.
The hotel’s made up of lots of trulli and it fits in beautifully with the surrounding countryside. Being so rural, it’s easy to get away from it all and relax when you’re here. Take a dip in the outdoor pool or just relax on the sunbed and keep your drink topped up from the poolside bar. If you want to take the relaxation up a notch, then head to the little wellness centre with a sauna and steam room. The service throughout the whole hotel is a great as you’d expect for five stars. The staff can’t do enough for you and you’ll want to stay longer after being so wonderfully pampered.
We really recommend getting out and exploring Puglia. There’s so much to see and do like the UNESCO town of Alberobello where you can do some wine tasting, or heading to one of the trendy beach clubs on the coast. The hotel’s closest town is Locorotondo, which is considered one of Puglia’s prettiest towns by the locals as well as visitors. There’s plenty of history here and stunning baroque architecture.
Car hire is recommended for this hotel. Hotel Il Palmento is approx. 1 hour from Bari or Brindisi airport.
