It feels quiet and serene inside the Hotel La Favourita, which may be surprising considering its right in the centre of Sorrento. The location’s perfect for exploring the historic town with Piazza Tasso, Villa Comunale and the beautiful 14th Century San Francesco Cloisters just a few minutes’ walk away. The service here is attentive and personal – there’s always someone around to give advice and assistance.
There’s an air of luxury about the place. It’s modern, yet classically Italian. The fresh Mediterranean white’s and blues make the interiors feel bright and airy. The décor follows suit in the bedrooms. Some have Vietri tiled floors with high frescoed ceilings and they all have outdoor space – either a terrace or a balcony. Our favourite thing about La Favourita is the roof terrace. The swimming pool is up here, but the best part is the views - you can see right across the Bay of Naples and as far as Mount Vesuvius. The gardens around the hotel are beautiful too, with terraces planted with lemon trees.
Sink into the comfy white leather chesterfields beneath the twinkling chandeliers, with a cocktail in hand, in the American Bar before dinner. There’s some lovely options when it comes to dining too. The Tiffany Restaurant is an elegant setting where you can enjoy delicious fresh dishes, from pasta to lobster. The nearby Parrucchiano Restaurant is a must. It’s known as the birthplace of cannelloni – head here to try the delicious pasta dish for yourself.
