If you’re heading to Park City over February half term, you’re more than likely going to have some little ones in tow. This resort is absolutely fantastic for all ages, supported by the fact that SKI Magazine awarded it 2nd best family resort in the west for 2014 and number 1 in 2012, as well as OnTheSnow.com awarding it number 1 for Family Resorts in 2010.

The snow around February is typically fantastic. Additionally, the temperatures tend to be slightly warmer than other American resorts because of the area’s proximity to the desert, so there shouldn’t be as much complaining about cold fingers and toes. Night skiing means that if you do have those super keen members, you can ski later in the evening to fit as much in as possible. Enrolling beginners and improvers into the ski school can be a great idea, freeing you up to do what you want during the day, and allowing them to get the best tuition with people their own age. With an outstanding, well-respected ski school, the range of lessons should cater for the majority of broods. If you want to ski with your children, Homerun is a super challenge for beginners, being the longest run in resort - 5.6km from the top of the Pioneer and Thaynes lifts right into the town. More confident children will love Adventure Alleys, which are a set of blues winding their way through trees - finding all five can be a great family challenge.

There are a number of events and activities around town for when you don’t fancy skiing or boarding. Gorgoza Park (just 7 miles away) features tubing runs for that family favourite, and a range of museums in the town document its history, providing a fun and informative alternative for kids and adults alike. February usually sees the Big Mountain Battle – very similar to Aspen’s Battle of the Bowls, this race sees teams of 2 zipping around the mountain, hitting a series of runs and checkpoints before crossing the finish line. Ordinarily, there are also a number of freestyle events, which can be great for spectating.

If you fancy a bit of alone time or the kids are just that little bit too young to ski, Guardian Angels offer a babysitting service, and Monkey Mountain provides great day care for if you want to go and explore on your own.
