Park City probably offers its patrons a bigger and better Christmas than can be found anywhere in Europe. Sticking to the good old American way of “bigger is better”, the celebrations, events and dining are all spectacular.

Events have the potential to keep you busy during your whole holiday; you could be meeting Santa, Mrs Claus or a juggling elf in the historic town, which is typically filled with carol singers. Alternatively, take a stroll in the Old Town and vote for your favourite Christmas display in a number of the shop windows, with the winner usually announced around December 21^st. A year-in-year-out favourite is the chance to meet Santa out on the slopes on Christmas Eve, culminating in him leading a parade of the ski school instructors carrying torches down the Payday Run. As it’s after dark, it’s an awesome sight and can be viewed from the town, with hot choc and cookies usually given out in the Resort Plaza.

Of course, the snow is one of the main reasons to venture over to Park City for the Christmas period. With its super light and dry snow, if you happen to have a powder day, little else will compare to the feeling you’ll get pounding your way through the deeps. The temperature at this time of year is usually very mild compared to other North American resorts, which can make skiing an absolute pleasure.

What would Christmas be without a huge meal, we hear you ask. Well, Park City has over 100 eateries in its vicinity to cater for your needs. The Golden Hirsch is one of the most traditional, festive places you’ll find– offering ski favourites like fondue, as well as many other fine dining options. Alternatively, try the Riverhorse on Main for some superb, locally inspired meat and fish dishes usually on both their À la carte and Christmas set menu.
