New Years is a really special time in Mürren, as a lively, festive atmosphere takes over the village and the local bars and hotels put on parties and celebrations. The snow conditions are normally great around this time of year too, so snow bunnies will be kept happy cruising around on the miles of corduroy or seeking out the best powder.

The place to be on New Year’s Eve is usually the sundeck of the Hotel Jungfrau, or the surrounding area, where everyone in the village joins together to watch the impressive firework display and countdown to New Years. Around town there are several fun bars and clubs for more merry-making, including the Tächi Bar with regular live music, or the Inferno which dishes out flaming drinks and has a pink Cadillac as a DJ booth! On New Year’s Day the friendly tourist office normally organises a complimentary glass of wine at the Alpines Sports centre, where locals and visitors can mingle and toast to the forthcoming New Year. A little later on in January there is the Lauberhorn Downhill Ski World Cup which is definitely worth sticking around for if you can.
