Escape the crowds this New Years in the peaceful and charming village of Klosters. The village might be small, but it certainly won’t be dull - enjoy a drink in one of the characterful bars - Chesa Grischuna is a classic (Gene Kelly once danced on the tables here!) or party the night away at Casa Antica club. If you don’t mind a short train ride you can visit Davos for even more après-ski and entertainment such as a casino, 3D cinema and spa.

The snow conditions at this time of year are known for being exceptionally reliable. There’s enough variety of terrain to keep everyone occupied, from total beginners to even the most experienced and adventurous skiers. Take children and beginners up the Madrisa gondola where you will find plenty of easy drag lifts and magic carpets, as well as some interesting red and blue runs to keep the intermediate skiers entertained. Head over to the largest area in the region, Parsenn, complete with a snow park and a half pipe for some festive free-styling.

Make sure you don’t miss the fascinating tradition of the piglet race through the village on New Year’s Day - locals specially train the pigs in preparation for this entertaining event and you can even place bets on which one will win...
