Thanks to Davos’s high altitude (the top lift reaches 2844m and over 80% of the runs are situated at over 2000m) it’s usually possible to ski right through till the end of April, which makes Davos a great destination for Easter skiing. Davos is an acclaimed family resort; it’s one of a handful of Swiss resorts to have been granted “families welcome” award. Snow cannons on the lower slopes help to provide sufficient coverage right down to the bottom of the pistes. Sometimes the black run down to Davos, which is south facing, can get slushy towards the end of the season - if this is the case it’s best to take the high speed funicular back down, or you can ski over to Klosters and take the 20 min train ride home. The weather at this time of year is usually warm and sunny and it’s common to see sunbathers lounging outside on deckchairs at the Jatz hut or Bolgenschanze bar. It’s a lovely time of year to go walking or snowshoeing too. There is plenty to entertain you away from the slopes; the music festival “Snow Jam Davos” usually takes place around Easter time, and then there is the lively après-ski scene. Make sure you head to Weber or Schneider chocolatiers for delicious handmade Swiss chocolate eggs.
