The hotel isn’t bad, it could do with a refurb but is very clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
We had a decent sized room and were happy with the balcony, the view is just breaktaking.
We also liked the access to the outdoor pool.
The food wasn’t bad either and you do get a variation. Some nights they offered a choice of 2-3 main courses and they had a buffet for starters every night.
In the morning you come out with your skis, put your skis on and then go down on the ski track that’s just outside the hotel.
It would take you 5-10 minutes to get up to the hotel by the ski lift.
It’s worth knowing before you go here that the ski bus only carries on until 2-3 in the morning on two nights a week, for the rest of the week it only goes until 8pm. There is a bar in the hotel and they do special events like karaoke each night.
A lot of the residents had been coming back to the hotel Viking for a few years, which says a lot, and we would go back here on another ski holiday.

The hotel is in a good location and it’s very convenient to be able to ski in / ski out... however the rooms were very poor quality. We knew we weren’t getting an interconnecting room but had booked an en-suite family room, the bathroom was fine but the room itself turned out to be 4 single beds pushed together side by side. Bar a foot down the right hand side of the far bed and a foot at the end of the beds, there was no room at all and no space to even hang things to dry.
The Viking is mainly a family hotel and a lot of other people were in the same situation as us which wasn’t great.
Overall, everything was a little tired and in need of a bit of TLC, but it had everything we were looking for. The staff were OK and we had no issues with the food.

Further to our telephone conversation I write to thank you for arranging our family ski holiday over the New Year.
The Hotel Viking was fantastic. The food was of a very high standard, the staff were exceptionally helpful and could not have done anything else to may our stay more relaxing.
It is worth noting that the ski/boot room can get very busy, and be prepared to queue for your ski hire at the very small shop on site in the hotel. (Worth doing this before checking in !! ) Also it is quite chaotic when leaving, as the Plenney lift operators only use 2 cars to get everyone and their luggage down to the waiting coaches.
Thank you very much for help and advice and I hope to speak with you again when booking next years ski break.
Kind regards
Tony
