A good stay at the Snezhanka

A good hotel. It’s at one edge of the town to a bit of a degree, but it’s a small town and we were well located for wandering around and exploring. Our bedroom was fine. We enjoyed the food, which was mainly local dishes with a few more familiar European dishes thrown in (always in the form of a buffet). On most nights you could wander down anytime for meals and sit where you wanted, but on New Year’s Eve you had to sit in a special place (our reps weren't very good at keeping us informed about this!). They did an excellent New Year’s Eve party with five or six different acts and course after course at dinner.

It’s at the quieter end of the village, right at the far end, which we like. It looks a little tired in some respects but the services are excellent and the rooms are nice and big. The food has always been excellent. They do a constant buffet with a selection of hot dishes, you just go up and help yourself, which is ideal for most people as you can always find something you like. Unlike a lot of places in Bulgaria, the food is actually hot rather than just being warm and you have a microwave at hand if you want to heat anything up.
It’s a short walk back into the centre of town (by a short walk I mean a couple of hundred yards).
The only downside, if I had to pick one out is that you have to get the bus to access the ski area. They run buses from all the hotels up to the ski lifts and the area where all the ski equipment is left... The buses start at 9am and last until 10:30am and then on the way back they start at 3pm and last until 4:30pm, so if you want to go back in the middle for lunch you have to get a taxi.
