Superb food, good customer service

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

The hotel has recently been taken over by a Swedish company and all the staff were very customer focused, really polite and friendly. It’s not completely new, it’s a refurbished hotel so be aware of that, but it’s regularly cleaned.
Bedroom – it’s not a 5* hotel and the room was quite small but it was nicely decorated with all we needed.
It was so nice having the ski shop down below. We arrived, dumped our stuff and the guys sorted us out with skis straight away. If you needed anything done in the week you could just pop down. They had a locker there which was useful too, and it was on the ground floor by reception rather than in a basement which was useful.
The food was superb, they had a proper chef rather than some kid cooking like you get in some chalets. We had a 3 course menu each night of nicely presented modern cuisine and the wine menu was decent too.
They did dinner in 2 sessions and there were only 32 beds in the hotel, so the dining room wasn’t massive and catered for just the right amount of people. We always had candles on the table so it was a real dining experience instead of just eating. It was really nice to come back from skiing, go for a few drinks and than have a proper meal before retiring for the night.
The bar was nice and had a happy hour every night where drinks were 2 for 1.
Generally the staff were really helpful.
The location wouldn’t be a problem for a young person, but it was a wee bit of a distance for me (whilst still being fairly central) as it took a good ten minutes to walk to the main slopes – although this wouldn’t put me off booking it again. You could walk down the hill and get the bus which made things much easier.
If you’re new to the resort or want to engage with other people, the hotel do lots of trips and picnics that you can get involved with.
