The hotel is extremely good, its motto is “Alpine Slowness” which really sets the scene – everything is very relaxed there. Our bedroom was very nice indeed, with enough space and all we needed. The staff were brilliant. We thought food was fantastic. They served a five or six course meal every night and also provided us with lunch even though it was only a half board booking. The facilities in the hotel were fantastic, with a swimming pool, sauna etc, etc and it turned out to be very good to have them as there wasn’t any decent snow on the mountain. It would have been about a 5 minute walk to the nearest lift and about a 10 minute walk into town.

The Eschenhof is a brilliant, family run hotel. We had a six course evening meal every night, with a salad bar where you could help yourself, a starter, soup, main course, dessert and then the option to help yourself from a cheese selection. The family produced a daily newsletter that was on your table at breakfast time, and on it would be the menu for the evening meal, so you’d choose your options then. We were the only English guests and they produced an English version of the newsletter especially for us. The family were always visible and spoke to us in perfect English; by the end of the week we were greeted as long lost friends. They provided little freebies, for example mugs of mulled wine, throughout the week.
The hotel is attached to a spa which has an indoor and outdoor pool as well as a sauna and wet room which you could use for free. You could also book treatments at an extra cost.
