A splendid week, we would go back. The service at the Ambassador is superb and we thought that the concierge was excellent. We liked the facilities and used the pool most nights. The only thing I’d say is that it would have only been properly ski in, ski out earlier in the season – they scooped up the snow on the way down to put a new lift in, so we couldn’t ski back (visited late March). The route down is a red run so you have to be a confident skier, but you can always come back by the cable car.
If you just want to go straight up the mountain and ski it’s great, if you want to go around Montana and shop it’s difficult. It’s a long walk which wasn’t fantastic with a buggy – not Montana’s fault, just because the Ambassador is up above the town.
The food was fine; we ate in the bar most nights as the main evening meal was too late for our boys. The bar has big windows with lovely views of the mountains.
One thing that’s especially good is the onsite ski hire shop by the hotel, which we will definitely use next time. It makes things so much easier than having to travel out to the Intersport, especially with children. The staff there were so helpful and they let us leave our skis there overnight.
