We loved it

Reviewed 1 Apr 2015

We had a great time and loved the hotel. The best bit was the food, we’ve stayed in 5* hotels and the dining has reflected that but this was a 3* hotel and the food was absolutely excellent – it really made our holiday.
The hotel is small and family run, with three generations working there during our stay. Everyone was friendly and we felt very welcome. I’m sure if we’d had any problems they’d have been very helpful (they were very good when I told them about my gluten-free diet).
The restaurant was very busy – as well as the guests, a lot of locals and people staying elsewhere came to eat here (including the Austrian ski team who visited every night during their circuit). They served mainly French cuisine, starting with a soup or typical French salad. On the first night, we had lobster as a main and we also enjoyed salmon and Thai chicken curry. Desserts were on a help yourself basis, always with a cheese board of course. Breakfasts were self-service although there was always a waiter there if you needed anything. They were purely continental with cheeses, cold ham, yoghurts, cereals, breads and jams as well as tea and coffee. We sat and chatted with other guests over breakfast for 2 hours one morning, we felt no pressure whatsoever to leave the table which was really nice.
In terms of the facilities, you enter the building down a flight of stairs which take you straight into the ski locker room. Through there, you go into a small bar where they had tea, coffee and juice to welcome you in as well as Sky TV for anyone who wanted that. Upstairs there’s the restaurant as well as a small bar / sitting area by the reception that was mostly used for meetings with ski reps.
The hotel rooms were small with little storage, but that seems to be a common thing in France. We had a clean bathroom with a nice, powerful shower.
The location is great as it’s on the main road for all the shopping and nightlife, and the actual slope is one block away, so you don’t have to walk far at all.
Overall, we were delighted.
