Chalet Rose is perfect if you're looking for a basic place to stay with easy access to the lifts. Comfortable rooms- absolutely great hosts with delicious food. Value for money but by no means can you ski in or ski out of this chalet!! Easy walk to the high street (about 5-10mins) where all the bars and restaurants are.

We had a lovely week away. The chalet was great and the lads who ran it were absolutely fantastic. The food was brilliant; they cooked a menu that was provided by the chalet company and it was really varied, with fish one night, goulash another night and chicken another. The cakes were excellent too, it was all absolutely delicious. We did have a problem with the shower but that was resolved quite quickly.
The only thing is that while it’s said to be ski in / ski out, there was a unanimous agreement throughout the guests that it wasn’t. We’ve been to ski in / ski out accommodation before that’s right on the piste so you can literally step outside and ski down and the Rose wasn’t like that – getting to the pistes took what was less like a ski and more like a cross-country clamber…
The more competent skiers managed to get down via the slope (not an official piste) but there was then a very flat field that you had to pole across. To ski back, you had to ski over the undergrowth and clamber over a few fences.
One of us ended up leaving boots etc at the bottom of the chairlift and walking in, which only took 5 minutes – not a long walk at all and only a tiny bit uphill towards the end. The other kept skis at the chalet and persisted at skiing in and out – it may well be that there wasn’t enough snow on the bank to have a firm enough base to ski over while we were here. Even with ideal snow conditions however you’d still need to be a very good skier.
