Actual chalet was alright – OK food, liked the swimming pool etc. and found nothing big to moan about! Getting to it was a killer though as you have to go up quite a few steps to reach it. You have to walk up a hill for about ten minutes to the building, then a lift takes you to level 3 but because we were higher up we then had to take 100 odd steps after that.

The chalet lay out is ok although it took ages to walk up to – it’s right at the top so you had to go through a hotel and ski hire then climb 3 flights of stairs to reach it. The guys looking after us were very attentive and friendly as well as being good cooks. We had a massive room and the balcony was good as well. The bathroom was a little wedged in and quite small but that wasn’t a big problem. One odd thing was that the chalet had no heating, it wasn’t that the heating wasn’t turned on – there weren’t actually any radiators or fireplaces. It wasn’t a massive issue and no one was cold, but for example towels wouldn’t really dry which was a bit of a problem and our room had a slight chill.

We had a lovely holiday, the only issue was that it seemed to be the highest chalet in the resort – the day we arrived it was snowing so much that we had to haul our luggage up, then get a lift which took you so far, then take some stairs, then some more stairs! A professional skier can ski in and ski out and my partner and his kids managed it, but as a beginner I couldn’t so I ended up carrying my skis down the stairs. The chalet has a nice swimming pool which the kids enjoyed every night when they came in from skiing. We all really liked the food and Sam our host was fantastic; I’m not fussed on certain meats and he was very accommodating. Our bedroom was quite big, we had to hang ski and swim clothes out the window to dry off but wasn't too much of a problem.

Chalet Maryse is basic but adequate. The communal area’s quite good but the rooms are small and basic. The food was good and Sam was very helpful and did everything required of him.
The description mentions a five minute walk to Val Thorens – the walk does take this amount of time but it’s also quite steep with lots of steps, we were staying with my elderly mother so this wasn’t ideal.
My mother’s a teacher and going at half term adds an extra cost to the holiday so we paid a lot for what was at the end of the day very basic.
