Worn but charming, with room for improvement

Reviewed 19 May 2016

It’s a little on the scruffy side, but my wife and I found it charming! The upstairs was very good from the point of view of the ambiance; there’s a fantastic large seating area. The furniture was a little tired and worn but there were sufficient sofas for everyone staying there, whereas some chalets have insufficient seating areas. The sofas could certainly do with renewing, but they should definitely maintain the number of them. They would do well to improve the toilets and look at putting in some more – one was in the boot room and the other was near the bedrooms. The bathroom with a bath definitely has sufficient room for a toilet, they should put one in there.
I guess we had the nicest bedroom, it had lovely old timbers and a double bed and ensuite bathroom. We peered into the other rooms and they were quite basic.
There’s a nice open large kitchen with a big dining area. The food was ample and the nice young lady who was waiting to go to university was great. It’s not cordon bleu dining but after a day on the slopes it was good. There was enough wine and we didn’t feel like there were any restrictions on it.
The chalet has a nice situation but unfortunately the resort didn’t open the lift next to it while we were here. Overall my wife and I enjoyed the week.

Great host & food, slightly odd layout

Reviewed 21 Apr 2016

The Lo Soli has a very nice communal living room and kitchen. The chalet girl and food side of things were fantastic.
Val d’Isere wasn’t very good with keeping runs and lifts open (visited in January 2016), and as the run next to the chalet wasn’t open for the first 4 days, we ended up having to get the bus to the lifts. With everyone going into Solaise and La Daille it ended up being quite busy! We tended to get the bus to La Daille to go over to Tignes, where there are more runs and lifts open.
Our bedroom was a bedroom – alright but not overly huge. It was next to the door but wasn’t too bad with people coming in and out.
The chalet has a bit of an odd arrangement with the beds downstairs rather than up, and we couldn’t work out why they didn’t all have en-suites as there was definitely room for them. Some rooms had ensuite showers, but the chalet's 3 toilets were shared. There was one in the bathroom (which you obviously couldn’t use if someone was in the bathroom), and another down off the boot room which was a bit of a trek to get to so no-one really bothered. That left us with the one by the main entrance of the bedroom floor. When everyone was getting ready in the morning it was a bit of a hassle, and with plenty of room for more I don’t know why they only chose to have 3.
