L'Ours Blanc

Reviewed 14 Apr 2016

The chalet was very good value, but we did have some issues (e.g. some bits unclean and heating didn’t work). The hosts were lovely though, and we found the food very good. It’s not a ski in, ski out chalet – you had to walk a bit.

Early January family holiday

Reviewed 14 Jan 2016

Chalet L'ours Blanc is a big building split into multiple apartments which seem to be mostly shared between UK ski holiday operators. Overall, fairly functional, very tired and a bit grubby and definitely not what you would imagine a chalet to be like. We were looked after by our ski hosts well but were plagued by maintenance problems such as the heating in the main room not working for 5 of our seven days, no light in the sauna, showers not working and dishwashers churning out dirty plates and cutlery. The relationship between the ski companies and the maintenance team of the chalet owners seems poor and the ski companies have little leverage to get repairs done. This is not a ski in ski out chalet as it requires a 100 yard walk to the nearest lift along a road. There is a good ski hire shop at ground level in the chalet.

Good facilities and location - have had better food in other chalets

Reviewed 26 Mar 2015

The L’Ours Blanc was ok, the facilities like the heated lockers were good, and it wasn’t too far from the lifts (about 150m to the tow). The rooms were a wee bit small but that’s France for you – it’s a usual problem in France that you have nowhere to hang clothes and hardly enough room to swing a cat. We paid extra for a balcony but probably wouldn’t bother next time, it’s not much of a balcony.
It’s not as good as some we’ve stayed in from the point of view of the food menu, which was a bit Spartan. Don’t get me wrong we know what chalet food’s like, we’ve just had better experiences elsewhere.

Ideal for what we paid

Reviewed 28 Jan 2014

Booked this as a last minute holiday. The chalet was very good and I really enjoyed the holiday here, the 2 guys that ran it were great and the whole set up was good. The food was perfect for what we paid for the holiday. It was very central in a good spot, high up with access all over the area. From the chalet it was a little walk to the lifts, more or less 2 minutes to the rope lift which drags you up the hill to Les Arcs 2000. From there you could go left or right or ski down to Les Arcs 1950. Liked the sauna, room was a bit tiny but this wasn’t a huge problem as we only used it to sleep in. Stayed in a twin room which had a balcony and shower but no bath, it was clean though and nice and warm - half of the other rooms were probably bigger than ours. This would be a good place for families, we shared the chalet with a couple who had 2 young kids and another family with older children, it’s not in a loud area and not near any clubs or bars so very quiet at night.

Great for big groups or couples keen to socialise

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

This being one of the bigger chalets as part of Chalets De l’ours, its located on the second floor with several rooms having a balcony to enjoy the views. It's ideally situated in Les Arc 2000 so this is a really popular place to stay with top catered service and friendly atmosphere in a great location. The button lift is 250m away, so you have easy access to slopes heading out and heading back home.
