Christmas @ Sapiniere

Reviewed 17 May 2016

Really good, we loved it and would totally recommend it!
The chalet hotel was really clean, friendly and welcoming.
We had a nice room with a modern bathroom and a nice view of the mountain. The food was very good and there was plenty of it, I think we did more eating than anything else! The staff were nice and friendly and made an effort to look after us.
The hotel is within a couple of minutes’ walk of the town. There’s a bus stop right outside for access to part of the ski area, or you can get another bus in the town.
They had decorations for Christmas and did a champagne breakfast.
They changed things up a bit with meal times and did two long tables so you could sit with who you wanted – think this would have been a better way to do it all week rather than sitting you at set tables in set groups.
Afternoon teas were very good, though we’d stuff ourselves with cake then have 5 course dinner later!

Good value

Reviewed 3 May 2016

I thought the Sapiniere was very good considering what you got for the price. The staff were friendly and we had a choice for all the meals, we weren’t expecting gourmet but we were happy with what they served. You could choose whatever you wanted for the buffet breakfast, and they’d do you a cooked breakfast if you wanted one. The bedrooms were fine – functional – my wife and I were in one of the older parts which had been refreshed recently. It was quite easy to get around if you were skiing the Brevent side, with the hotel being just about ski in, ski out. Otherwise it was a walk to the bus stop.

Good overall

Reviewed 16 Jun 2015

The hotel food was good, the staff were all very friendly and the WiFi worked well which is quite rare! It was no more than 50m from the local bus stop, which took you to most of the ski areas (the bus stops for other ski areas were a further walk). The activities they did in the evenings were fun as well.

Bit basic but good location, excellent service and lovely food

Reviewed 18 Jun 2014

I recall very pleasant staff and good food. As for the standard of accommodation, it was lower than what we normally book and what we like.
In terms of decor, the rooms were basic. Our room was fine but in the room of two other ladies we were staying with, they had the smell of damp which isn’t very pleasant, they needed some candles or perfumes.
The location is very good, you can walk everywhere.
If you really want to go skiing this is a great place to stay, but if you want to stay in the accommodation a little with a book, it’s a little on the basic side.

Lots of good veggie food

Reviewed 2 Jun 2014

Brilliant! There were vast quantities of food, about 6 courses for each meal. I’m a vegetarian and there were plenty of veggie options for me – something different every night which was impressive. There were options like risotto and pastry dishes. The free wine with dinner went down well too and was actually really good. The staff were nice and helpful, and friendly. There was a laid back atmosphere.
The rooms were lovely and they were clean. Me and my friend had a sort of attic room (with a window) and most rooms had balconies. The location was perfect, although you do need to walk for about 5 minutes and take a button lift to get up to the main slopes. The walk is easy though, it’s along the flat. The hotel’s boot room is on the same level so there’s not really much walking to do.
We went as a large group; it’s a good chalet hotel and a good resort for groups. Some of our friends were staying nearby and they let them eat breakfast and dinner at our hotel for a surcharge which was good.
The Brevent ski area was a short bus ride away from our hotel.

General French chalet hotel

Reviewed 16 May 2014

We had a good week, the chalet hotel itself has nice large rooms and the bar and dining area were both big. Everything inside is a bit dated but it had all we needed. We ate there and it was all usual chalet hotel food. The staff were pretty good, it was the start of the season so they were just getting to grips with everything but were very keen. The bus stop is good as it’s right outside the chalet and transfers were quick, it’s also only 5 minutes walk to the town. We stayed over New Years and they did make an effort with a few fireworks.

Great holiday, amazing hosts & location

Reviewed 28 Jan 2014

Hi Idalette, Had a great holiday and the reps were absolutely amazing hosts at the hotel. Great location for the slopes and access to the bus stops so thanks for your great advice. Transfers went well and we had no hiccups with the change of name. The furniture at the hotel in the bedrooms was a little rough round the edges but we weren’t too bothered about things like that, the food was great and plenty unlimited wine! Thanks again for all your help :-) Lynne.
