Liked the choice of social dining

Reviewed 7 Jun 2016

It does what it says on the tin! The location is very good, only slightly uphill to the main centre (not ski, in – ski out, but good enough).
One thing that I thought was a good idea was the idea of a social table – if you want to meet other people you can join up and talk about skiing, if you want to sit on your own you can do that. Meals were reasonably good, I have had better and had worse!
Generally, it’s pretty decent and the bedrooms were basic and clean. You certainly wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time in them, and someone who had paid full price might be disappointed, but they were fine. The bar area was fairly well run, and the staff seemed to know what they were doing. You’re paying for the location in this hotel and for our last minute booking it was well worth it.

Fantastic food and staff. It’s the little things…

Reviewed 22 May 2014

We have been on a lot of ski holidays and some of them haven’t really been up to standard – this one however was definitely a good one. Everything was really, really good. The staff were fantastic, the food was fantastic, our room was brilliant. It was right on the front of the building with beautiful views of the mountains. It’s true that the place needs a lick of paint (we read beforehand on Trip Advisor that the place needs updating. I stayed there about 8 years ago and I don’t think it’s been renovated since). The décor was ok though, and nothing was falling apart or broken or anything terrible like that. Everything else made up for it anyway. The price we paid for the holiday was reasonable and I’d actually be willing to pay a bit more if it meant that they updated the property.
The service really was great and so attentive all the time; it’s those little things that really add up. For example when it snowed they swept the steps and held the door open for you. I don’t need the door held open for me but it’s a nice touch.
Courchevel is quite expensive for eating out, but the breakfasts in the chalet hotel were so good we didn’t really have much for lunch. Then when you come back from skiing they have afternoon tea as well, with homemade cake and sandwiches, etc.
I was a bit worried that the place would be overrun with children, but it wasn’t at all, and we had no problems with the children that were there.
The good thing about the hotel is that it’s only 50m from the lifts – it’s almost ski in / ski out. The place we stayed the year before in Italy was terrible in comparison, you had to get a bus and it was a total nightmare. The hotel is also across from an indoor shopping mall. There are some reasonable eating places there and lots of cash points. They also have a climbing wall and a kind of high level play area/high ropes for the children with a swing and ladders, and a balance beam, etc.
