Amazing location, excellent food, same old problem of not enough storage

Reviewed 7 May 2015

In 1850 you’re never far from the lifts but this chalet hotel was particularly good as you just nip round the back and ski away - come out, go round the corner and there’s a run down to the chairlift. You could ski back the same way, it was heaven!

The food was absolutely excellent and they were very generous with portions. The staff really couldn’t have done more for you – whatever we asked for we got.

We did find our room very small – there weren’t enough hooks which is the same old thing with ski hotels. We had enough hangers for our evening clothes but ski clothes are just so bulky you end up with a lot of stuff, it’s a bit of a pain when you’re moving stuff in and out of your suitcase every day.
We had one of the front rooms and from what we could see, the rooms at the back were larger. They didn’t have balconies but I think I would forego a balcony for a bit more space.

It’s not the most luxurious, but what ski hotels are? When you’re skiing all day all you need is somewhere to lay your head. Overall we had a brilliant week.

If I was to recommend anywhere to stay, I’d recommend this chalet.

The chalet is absolutely fantastic, I can’t complain at all. Everyone there was seriously brilliant.
The location is perfect, you walk out the door, turn right and within two minutes you’re on the piste. There’s an uphill or downhill option to get to the slopes and I didn’t go the other way, but it was the same distance both ways.
Inside was a bit of both traditional and modern. It was a little tired and could do with dolling up but the staff kept everything in very good shape.
They did some little games nights and quizzes to get people together and sent you to different tables every evening to get you involved. At first I thought it would be a bit silly but it was a fantastic way to become friendly with all the people there.
I wouldn’t call the food particularly French, it was a bit of everything from duck to venison. They did tea in the evenings 3 hours before dinner and the stuff they came out with was amazing.
I always wanted to stay in Courchevel but never thought I would be able to afford it until Coq de Bruyere which made it more affordable. I went into some expensive hotels which were cold and impersonal, I much preferred the Coq de Bruyere.

Wonderful food and hosting in a world beater

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

A top position in one of the world’s leading resorts... and within only a few minutes walk to La Croisette and in the heart of Courchevel 1850 for some of that (in)famous après ski. You can pretty much ski right to the chalet (within approximately 40m). The five course meals are professionally cooked by a talented chief and his small team, so you can expect your meals to be (almost) as exciting as your skiing, with a nice drop or three (strictly as a digestif of course). Because of the location and superb levels of service, this place is among the best value for money catered chalets in town.
