The chalet was good, I think they’d done some work on it the previous winter and had expanded the facilities (for example there’s a decent sauna now). The dining area is quite small which could sometimes be awkward for particular group sizes, but it was fine for us. The accommodation was good. The chalet has a great location where it’s easy to get to the slopes. Great value for money – Zug/Zurs/Lech is a resort for select upper class clientele but catered chalets make it more accessible.

The chalet is very well located, it’s actually on the slopes so in good conditions you can ski in and ski out (there wasn’t enough snow when we were there so we could only ski out and had to get the bus back).
The inside is perfectly nice although the layout is a bit unsuitable for the type of chalet it is. The downstairs area is a bit of a mish-mash with a cramped dining area. If there was a seating area where everyone could gather and sit round the fire it would have been a lot nicer, as it is you don’t really get the ‘chalet’ ambiance. We had no problems with our bedroom and we were perfectly happy with the food, which wasn’t brilliant but was fine.

This was my first experience of staying as a couple in a catered chalet. Having been use to a long drive, lots of shopping, cooking and washing up this was the most relaxing ski holiday I have had. It certainly put the holiday into ski holiday. The chalet girls were faultlessly welcoming, bright and cheerful. They provided food that was always enjoyable and perfect after the daily workout on the slopes. The canapes were always interesting and we definitely missed the girls on their day off.
Our room was large and comfortable with a nice en suite.
Zugg was charming and quiet though, ironically, after our night in Lech when we had to find somewhere to eat, we found that the Hotel opposite had the nicest and liveliest bar of all that we had visited.
The temperatures were a bit high during our week leading to some slushy moments but we managed to find enough good snow and skiing in bright sunlight is a plus.
Our chalet mates were good company around the table, in the apres ski Euro Pop bar at The Pfeppercorn and at cocktail time over the road.
This was one of the nicest holidays Margaret and I have had together.

The attitude of the representative for the chalet was not at all welcoming and despite stating we wished to purchase our own ski passes she continued with the hard sell until forcefully told we would purchase our own. Throughout the week there we were not provided info about the resort and where the best places to eat and ski where or indeed weather updates (printout for weather was not updated for the entire duration of stay). In short extremely disappointed with the quality of service which was the worst of the 5 years of staying at this chalet. Food requires improvement. We are undecided if we shall return.

The chalet was fine. It’s a quiet location – if that’s what you want then it’s ideal. It’s out of town, situated in the village of Zug, which is quite a remote location. There’s a bar and a couple of restaurants in the village but not much else. You can take the bus to Lech if you want more après ski.
The chalet was in good condition and the food was good. They had had some issues with staff turnover but it wasn’t particularly problematic, the hosting was fine. The main issue was that the Wifi wasn’t good, some of the guests ended up going to the café opposite for internet as they needed it for work purposes, etc.
I wouldn’t recommend it for groups, it’s more of a place for a quiet couples holiday.

Chalet Furka is located in the low-key hamlet of Zug, home to just a few local bars to entertain you within the immediate vicinity. But fear not! The excitement can be found on the piste, with access to the chalet from the slopes by riding down some hair raising intermediate runs. For the full après experience, a bus runs for much of the evening in peak season, allowing patrons of the legendary nightlife a way of getting home. With the lifts just one hundred metres from your door step, and the ski bus stopping fifty metres away, you’ll be well connected to the rest of the resort. If you do, however, want to get away from it all, get yourself pampered from the in-house spa, and lose yourself to relaxation (check the spa is open on your dates "before" booking, if its important to your holiday).
