The chalet is very good in general, close to the slopes so very convenient as you can get right out from the back. It’s not too far to walk into town either. The chalet itself is nicely laid out, the rooms had a good view and a nice amount of space. Food was really good with a decent menu and meals that were nicely prepared. Whatever their relationship with the food company was, it worked out well for us as customers. There are good facilities for keeping equipment which is always important. Overall I would definitely recommend the Christophorous as a good place to stay.

Obergurgl is a fantastic 'up market' resort, with great facilities which are all within easy reach when staying at the Chalet Christophorus.

Still the only adult chalet in town?

Reviewed 28 Jan 2014

There's no wonder this place is so popular. If you want to ski awesome Obergurgl with its terrifically snow sure reputation and classy ambiance, there's no better place to stay, because this is the only catered chalet that's for grown ups in town. And this is one very grown up resort, with bucket loads of alpine history and a superb snow record. The chalet is known for its friendly and expert staff who not only provide hearty mountain food for the hard charging first-to-last-lift brigade, but also have great advice on where to ski and the nicer spots to venture out to after your well earned supper. If your Obergurgl ski holiday has to be in a catered chalet (a fine stipulation in our opinion) and you're not taking children, this is the place to base yourself for a very special week in one of Austria's best winter destinations.

Really good value and location

Reviewed 28 Jan 2014

Chalet was overall good value (as ski holidays go!). It’s in a really good position for ski in / ski out, boot room is very organised, our room was clean – could have done with a bit more storage, there weren’t any drawers but there was lots of hanging room. The room for my three teenage boys was big enough. The food was fine, only small complaint I had was that the cutlery and crockery was not very clean, I think the dishwasher just needed some rinse aid and it would have been fine. For the afternoon tea, we would have liked some bread, butter and jam (to keep the hungry teenage boys happy!) but it was lovely to have tea and coffee available all the time. We hadn’t been to Obergurgl before but I would go again. It’s easy to navigate, has good links to Hochgurgl and there were no queues (even though we did go early in December which is never too busy). Even though we were here in December we had March weather – lots of sunshine and not too cold – I was expecting to be frozen! The pistes were beautifully groomed and we had no trouble with the skiing. My son broke his wrist on the 5th day and the clinic don’t take an EHIC card so make sure you have travel insurance! The situation was very well handled by the reps who were good and efficient and the hospital back home were pleased with the treatment my son received out there.
