Lovely La Plagne Chalet

Reviewed 6 Jun 2016

Really lovely! It was nice and warm, especially my bedroom which was above the kitchen area. The whole place was relaxed and we could fit around the table together, while anyone in the lounge was nearby as it’s all in one room. The host was very polite and had a good sense of humor. Everyone said the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. It was a nice touch when we arrived to have drinks and canapés, and they did the same on the last night. We had a takeaway pizza on the chalet host’s night off which was nice. Location is spot on! The chalet is right on the slope, we found a little cut through and that was it. There’s only one thing that could be improved, but they can’t really do anything about it – more comfortable chairs would be nice, but they can’t fix that as there’s nowhere to fit them. It was just that once the chalet was full we were a bit squashed up. That’s just the nature of our group having sole occupancy though, with different people staying there it probably wouldn’t be very often that everyone would be there at the same time. Other than that, no problems at all! The snow in La Plagne was perfect and we had a great week.

Ideal location if you can ski

Reviewed 10 Jun 2014

We had a lovely week – we were lucky really as we were given the big twin room, which had a spare bed as well (some of the other rooms were quite small including the one opposite). I was here with my son and there were a few other couples of fathers and daughters, all a similar age, so it was a nice group of people.
The rest of the chalet was adequate, a little shabby around the corners but not too bad.
The food was alright although breakfast wasn’t brilliant, we got one sausage and a bit of scrambled egg each although it did improve when we brought it up with them. They did tea with cake and stuff after you get in from skiing and dinner was fine.
The chalet guy was really nice and friendly.
If you can ski, the location is fantastic but we were beginners and the actual ski slope you take to get down to ski school was quite steep, so we had a bit of a trek to the lift (we went with the bigger ski school down the valley as the nearer one is quite small).

Quite small, excellent host

Reviewed 16 May 2014

The chalet was good; smaller than it looks in the images in terms of the living room area... the chalet can house up to 12 but if you had 12 people in the living area at the same time it would be a crush.
One of the issues with the chalet was that the host always had issues if too many electrical appliances were on at the same time, it would go off and he’d have to go down to sort it out. The cooker was electric so he had to remember to turn it back on which caused a bit of trouble sometimes. It wasn’t a huge problem and didn’t really affect me but might be frustrating to some; you just had to remember to do certain things like turn off lights.
The rooms were a decent size for a French chalet and the area you come in and leave your skis etc was good. It was about a 2 minute walk to the nearest slope so you had good access in that sense.
The food you have always depends on who the chalet host was but ours was excellent and the food was also excellent and plentiful. Christmas day was good, they did a special meal that wasn’t a traditional Christmas dinner but was a take on it and we had bubbles and stuff beforehand.
The host could play the ukulele and did some Christmas songs which made the evening good fun.
I ski a lot and go to a lot of chalets, this one was a little small, it was fine but I wouldn’t necessarily go back.

Simple good value nicely placed

Reviewed 29 Sep 2013

Quaint and relaxing, this modern chalet is typical of a French ski resort, so you know exactly what you’re getting. Sat in Plagne Village at 2050m, you wake up to snowy roof tops, and beautiful conditions for a day on the piste - just one hundred metres away. With the bus stop a short couple of minutes walk away as well, access to the town centre is easy and hassle free.
