Hosts weren't good at all

We didn’t like this chalet. The hosts weren’t brilliant: it wasn’t very clean and the food wasn’t fantastic.
Some examples – the food was often burned; the tops of the ketchup and HP sauce hadn’t been cleaned for weeks and when we asked for them to be wiped, nothing happened (we ended up cleaning them ourselves). Normally you have a courtesy bar for beer, I don’t drink wine but they said they had run out of beer and would get some. They didn’t and in the end they suggested I went out and bought my own. Normally once you have your evening meal, they clear the table but here they left it all out until the next morning (one morning we had to sit and wait for breakfast while they washed up, because the dishwasher was broken).
In general the layout of the chalet wasn’t great. It was open plan but we couldn’t have the fire on at dinner time because the dining chairs were in front of the fire (usually the living area is put around the fire so you can relax when you get in).
A lot of the things in the chalet weren’t working. Our room was on the top floor, but when we got there the lift was out of service and after carrying our luggage up the hill at the start of the holiday / skiing all day during the week, you don’t want to have to climb a load of stairs! In the boot room, the boot warmers weren’t working. The host said they hadn’t been working for 2 weeks and she didn’t know if they’d be fixed. The problem turned out to be that no-one had turned on the switch…
I knew it wasn’t ski out, but in terms of skiing in, if you weren’t an accomplished skier you wouldn’t have been able to get back. Fortunately we were and could do the off piste and make our own tracks. Loved Val Thorens & 3 Valleys area, but would not come back to this chalet.
