Beitostolen Half Term holidays

Beito tends to remain quiet at half term – making a week here wonderfully productive for starting skiers. You can forget wasting any of your precious time in a lift queue or, for that matter, on a lengthy transfer ‒ Fagernes airport’s a 2 hour flight from Gatwick and just 45 minutes from the resort.

Beito’s renowned as a family skiing heaven, in previous years offering free lift passes for children under 7. Besides a special children’s area, beginner’s lift and wide safe greens, even the resort’s red runs (we like Kulebakken and Sondre Knauseloypa) are gentle, so beginners of all ages can come away with a real sense of achievement. Over the valley at Raudalen, more challenging black runs and powder chutes, often completely deserted, are terrific for parents and the more advanced.

For some tales to put in their holiday scrapbooks, book kids in for some extreme snow sports at the Beito camp, or let them frolic on the rails, boxes, kickers or boarder cross in the Peppes park. Meanwhile, invest yourself in more grownup forms of relaxation: the heavenly Radisson spa, ice fishing out on the lake or mussel eating and people watching at Caféen.
