Festive cheer tends to stick around for the whole Christmas and New Year period in the mountains, so don’t worry about opting for a NYE holiday over a Christmas one. The great thing about a New Year holiday is the option to have a traditional roast turkey affair at home, and then jet off to the Alps to see in the New Year in style, whilst doing some really fantastic skiing.

Thanks to the surrounding slopes topping 2000m this is usually a pretty safe bet for good snow on an early season holiday.

As well as offering brilliant skiing for beginner and intermediate levels, with a few blacks to keep experts on their toes, there is also lots going on in the resort itself. On the 31st, there is normally a torch lit display by the ESF ski instructors, followed by a fireworks display. Once these have finished, head off to a bar like ‘La Grande Cabane’ that caters for special occasions, but be sure to book in advance. Over the few days after NYE, theatre performances and special events are usually planned for children including a magic show.
