Come February, the skiing in Zell is usually the best it’s been all year. With a half a season’s worth of accumulation, and the temperatures yet to drop, you’re almost guaranteed a great week snow wise. And the resort is well tailored towards families, with some great facilities for youngsters. Over the past few seasons, the resort has offered some great discounts on passes for kids and ‘youths’ and early indications suggest this will continue over the coming season.
The three ski schools in Zell all offer specific tuition aimed at children, and the small group sizes and large pistes make for an ideal learning environment. FUNty, the fun loving yellow elephant, is always on hand to raise a smile and lend a hand with technique- his top hat and bright red boots make him a firm favourite with kids of all ages. For the more adventurous, a new line has been added to the snowpark exclusively for kids, and there is a ‘chill out’ area alongside the park so parents can keep a watchful eye on their charges whilst relaxing on the mountain. Older children will find enough on the slopes to keep them away from Mum and Dad all day; though there are plenty of great mountain restaurants to meet at for lunch- the Arena Stadl is a great spot right at the peak of the Ubergangsjoch.
There’s no danger of the kids (even the big ones!) getting bored once the days skiing is over either. You’ll find an absolute medley of activities available in the evening, ranging from tennis and bowling in the Freizeitpark, to tobogganing, ice skating and cross country skiing outside. Of course, a visit’s not complete without a ride on the Arena Coaster, the incredible year round roller coaster
The Pistenbully Experience will be something new for the entire family, as you travel up the slopes in a 10 tonne beast and get a taste of the night time working of the resort. As well as the stunning panoramas from the slopes at night, children may be able to ride as a co-driver, and get as close to the action as possible.
Our hotels in Zell offer a variety of board options. If you’re keen to explore the town at night, keep your eyes peeled for our B&B deals but if you’d rather have everything taken care off from day one then have a look at our full and half board holidays.
