Festive markets are usually held in the village up until the New Year. There is a lovely atmosphere as visitors go for a stroll in the snow-capped village and take a gander at the knick-knacks and tasty snacks on offer from pretty wooden stalls. On New Year’s Eve you can expect impromptu fireworks to be lighting up the sky from every corner of the village. The party is sure to go on at one of the nightclubs like the Fundisco Jeep or the Fledermaus which should be pumping out the tunes!

We love the charming Aktivhotel Veronika for its traditional Tirolean feel and the Hotel Seefelderhof is in a great location just 250m from the nursery slopes and 600m from the centre. The Alpenhotel which is right in the centre offers excellent amenities and has a romantic atmosphere making it perfect for couples.

Seefeld is a magical place to escape for New Years, with downhill skiing amongst a variety of activities to try. Ski schools operate in reserved area of Geigenbühel nearby the village which allows beginners to learn in peace and quiet. Private and group lessons with English speaking instructors are available to book for all ages and abilities. Head up the Gschwandtkopf for some friendly blue runs to practise on before stopping for a mountain lunch at the Ötzi-Hütte. The Rosshütte area presents a mix of runs with some slightly steeper slopes which will please skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. We like the little snack restaurant Murmelebau up here, a good refreshing drinks stop.

Besides the downhill skiing Seefeld has a reputation for its world class cross-country– if you’re going to give cross country skiing a try, there’s no place better – you’ll find a massive 279km of glorious tracks to be covered. If you’d rather be doing something less strenuous there’s a grand Olympia Sports Centre in the village with a two-story sauna and wellness facilities sure to leave you thoroughly relaxed. Families will enjoy the natural toboggan run up the mountain and the ice-rink in the village.
