If you’re heading off with the clan over half term, both of the resorts in the Europa Sport Region are great for kids- the hardest decision you’ll make all holiday is likely to be picking which one to stay in!
The ‘Family Mountain’ at Maiskogel is the perfect place for younger children to take their first steps on snow. Easily accessible lifts and some gentle blue runs will leave them desperate for more. Parents can choose from a number of on mountain restaurants- the Stangerbauer has some delicious home baked treats- if they’re taking a laid back supervisory role, or get their own ski legs back on some of the more challenging runs nearer the peak.
Over at Schmitten, the resort’s mascot Schmidolin is always around to offer some friendly advice to youngsters. This friendly yellow dragon is often found around the Kinderland Glocknerbahn, the children’s play area where youngsters are taught to love the snow.
The great selection of ski schools in the area all offer progressive programs for youngsters who are advancing into the more extreme areas of skiing- freestyle and freeriding are the most popular- and the friendly instructors will leave parents free of worry all day.
