Overview: hotel description: Tirol Lodge description

Longing for a ski holiday that’s all about the skiing? Then head to the Tirol Lodge next season. This is a brand new hotel for Winter 18/19, with four wings, contemporary décor and an excellent location.

It’s got ski-in, ski-out access, at the bottom of the Hartkasier gondola, and is around 10 minutes' walk from the resort centre.

The rooms are simple but high-quality, with pine-clad walls and furniture and neutral colours. Even better, they’ve got high-speed WiFi and Netflix access.

Relaxation is key here, too – take some time out in the panoramic sauna and relaxation area, or go for a dip in the heated outdoor pool. The heart of the hotel is the lobby lounge, which has a bar and cosy fireplace.

When it comes to breakfast, you can choose to eat in the Restaurant Talkasier close by, or head to the Restaurant Bergkaiser at the top of the Hartkaiser gondola. The onsite snack bar is handy for a pick-me-up, too.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.

Many Austrian hotels do not serve free tap water with meals.

We update Tirol Lodge's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Set at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser Mountain range, Ellmau has a small population and so much classic Austrian charm that you’re unlikely to get through the week without donning Lederhosen or a dirndl. The village is built of the sturdy wood and stone structures you only find in the mountains, made picture-perfect by the central parish church. It’s not all about the aesthetics - you’ll find some excellent eateries, affordable après ski, and good quality chalets, hotels and apartments of all shapes, sizes an...
The resort has an excellent lift system connecting to the neighbouring villages of Going and Scheffau. It really comes into its own for beginners: children’s lessons take place in ‘Kinderland’ (next to the ski school office on Alte Straße 3) which is kitted out with magic carpets, snow plough area and mini slaloms. You’ll find a range of short, gentle blues at the bottom of the mountain leading down into Ellmau and Going, well protected and separate from the rest of the ski area. #100b from Astberg is a nic...
The local après is low key but merry, with Pub 66 easily winning the gong for most popular drink spot (trust us, after a few sherries the karaoke here starts looking a lot more appealing). Living up to Austria’s reputation for stein-swinging après. If you’re in the mood to warm up and relax, we love the Bettina - a gorgeous mountainside café in the perfect location for a family pit stop on the way back down the slopes - they do smashing hot chocolates and glühwein. Amongst the thirty-something re...
